Safety centre
A connection should leave room for your boundaries. Take time to get to know someone, keep control of your personal information and leave any interaction that makes you uncomfortable.
Last reviewedGo at your own pace
A convincing photo or a friendly conversation does not verify a person. Be cautious if someone pressures you to move to another app, keep the relationship secret or act urgently. You do not owe anyone a reply, a photograph, money or an explanation for saying no.
Keep passwords, sign-in codes and recovery codes private. Enter your password only after checking the site address. Do not install software or give remote access to someone you met through a post.
Plan a first meeting you can leave
- Choose a busy public place and arrange your own travel in both directions.
- Tell someone you trust where you are going and when you expect to return. Agree on a check-in.
- Keep your phone available and your drink in sight. Stay aware of anything that affects your ability to make decisions.
- Leave if the location changes unexpectedly, someone ignores a boundary or you feel unsafe. A previous agreement never removes your right to change your mind.
Consent is specific and ongoing
An invitation to chat or meet is not consent to physical contact, sexual activity, photography or sharing images. Ask clearly, accept a refusal and stop when consent is withdrawn. A person who is asleep, incapacitated or coerced cannot freely consent.
If someone threatens or blackmails you
Move to a safe place and stop engaging with the demand. Paying or sending more images does not guarantee that the threats will stop. Keep the account name, post link, dates and threatening messages when safe to do so. Ask a trusted person for support.
For intimate images taken when you were under 18, NCMEC’s Take It Down offers help on participating platforms. For adult intimate images, check StopNCII’s eligibility and guidance. These independent services cannot remove content from the entire internet; listing them here does not mean CityXDate participates in their matching systems.
Protect children
People under 18 must not use CityXDate. Report a post that appears to involve a child, grooming, trafficking or exploitation. Do not download, copy or forward suspected child sexual abuse material; record the page address and report the concern.
You can report suspected online child sexual exploitation to NCMEC’s CyberTipline and to the relevant authorities in your country.
